I’m often asked: “What makes Rescue 1 Global different?” Or in another form: “What sets you apart from other organizations?”
Ten years ago, I used to answer boldly:“We’re holistic!”, “Others don’t minister the way we do!”, “Everything!” And while those answers carried pieces of truth, they were wrapped in a younger man’s zeal — a heart burning hot for justice but still learning the humility of grace, the discipline of patience, and the wisdom that only comes through years of walking with Christ in the trenches.
But today, I answer that question very differently. Not with comparison, competition, or critique — but with Truth.
Truth has become the anchor of my calling, the lens through which I see the world, and the foundation on which Rescue 1 Global stands.
Not truth as opinion.
Not truth as method.
Not truth as branding.
Truth as the Person of Jesus Christ. A younger Daniel proclaimed this passionately. But an older Daniel — a husband, a father, a leader, a man chastened by suffering and strengthened by Scripture — now carries this Truth with steadier hands, deeper obedience, and a matured confidence in Christ alone.
This is not bravado. This is not religious posturing. This is bold allegiance to the One who is Himself the Truth. And this is what makes Rescue 1 Global different.
Truth: The First Core Value and the Foundation of Our Calling
Rescue 1 Global’s distinctiveness begins with this unshakable conviction: Jesus was
- prophesied in the Old Testament,
- revealed in the New Testament,
- declared by His own mouth to be the Light of the World,
- crucified for sinners,
- risen in victory over sin and death,
- ascended in glory,
- present with us by His Spirit, and
- returning to make all things new.
Because He rose, His promises can be trusted. Because He lives, our Hope has an anchor. Because He reigns, our mission has a direction.
This is the Truth we bring into safe homes, recovery centers, rescue operations, outreach teams, prayer rooms, and the darkest corners of exploitation.
When Optimism Ends, Hope Begins
I once read about a mining town where disaster trapped thirteen men deep underground.
These men and the entire town (men, women and children) had trained for emergencies and rescue contingencies— they rationed air, mapped escape routes, practiced calm breathing, memorized survival techniques, practiced locating collapses, mobilizing the town and families, digging, rotating shifts, communicating to miners trapped. They prepared for the worst and conditioned themselves to respond when necessary.
Their training gave them optimism — the belief that if they worked hard enough, the town folk could rescue and miners could escape.
But when the collapse sealed the thirteen in darkness, optimism began to suffocate with the air around them. The miners strength wasn’t enough. Their planning wasn’t enough. Their survival skills weren’t enough.
And then, in the silence, they heard it: Tap… tap… tap… Rescuers.
Not their doing. Not their abilities. Not their optimism.
A presence from above. A promise breaking through rock. A rescue they could not perform for themselves.
In that moment, optimism died — and real hope was born.
Hope wasn’t something they generated. It was someone coming for them.This is the hope we proclaim at Advent. This is the hope we bring in rescue work. This is the hope we cling to in our darkest hours.
Advent Hope: Light Dawns in the Darkness
Isaiah writes: “The people walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them” — Isaiah 9:2
The Advent season does not deny darkness. It acknowledges it. It proclaims that Light has dawned within the darkness — not after it lifts, not once we fix ourselves, not when we escape the mine of our own sin and suffering.
Christ entered humanity’s collapsed mine shaft. He came into the brokenness we could not escape. He came as the Rescuer whose presence makes real hope possible.
We at Rescue 1 enter dark places not because we are fearless, but because He is with us. We walk into chaos not because we are strong, but because His promises are true. We offer hope to survivors not because we are enough, but because He is the Light that shines and the darkness cannot overcome. – John 1, 1 John 1
Truth Propels Our Mission
Rescue 1 Global exists because:
- Christ is the Truth.
- Christ is the Light.
- Christ is the Rescuer.
- Christ is the Hope.
- Christ is the Returning King.
We prevent because He came. We rescue because He rescues. We restore because He restores. We endure because He promised. We hope because He is faithful.This is why we are different — not because of superiority, but because of calling, Truth, and obedience to the God who sends us.
