Happy Earth Day, April 22, 2024!

In Psalm 24, David begins his exhortation to the people of God and the dwellers of this awesome planet with, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.”

In Genesis, the Holy Spirit anoints Moses to write, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.” On the sixth day of creation, God the Father said to God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

So, in celebration of Earth Day, we praise God for the Sovereign, divine genius of His creation – Lands, Oceans, Animals, Plants, the Heavens, Meteorology, Atmosphere, Weather, and Sciences. We praise Him for creating humanity in His likeness with the capacity to Love, Build, Cultivate, and Serve. We thank Him for bestowing stewardship of His Creation to humanity to cultivate, conserve, harvest, sustain, utilize, and replenish resources, care for, and develop the art of husbandry to bring the Earth into its Fullness or Wholeness or the full Peace or Presence of God through His pinnacle created-being – Man.

Today, Honor the Creator of the Heavens, Earth, Man, and Salvation!
