Survivor Story 6
Rescue 1 came to my church and did a human trafficking training. I was overwhelmed by what I learned. I knew I had to do something – I had to join this fight, but how? What could I do to make a difference. They shared that one of the needs was for partners to serve as ambassadors for the international Rescue 1 homes and programs. I had to say “Yes!”
I was able to travel to Asia with the Rescue 1 team and meet children that I would be advocating for, seeing first-hand how my ONE/1000 sponsorship helps care directly for young girls in the Grace Oasis safe homes, like Annie.
Once abandoned and exploited, now Annie’s smile lights up a room. Her life is forever changed, and I get the joy of knowing her and seeing her live in freedom. She is an amazing artist and is pursuing a college degree in art!
Annie is also a great big sister to the other girls in the safe house and serves everyone with such a sweet spirit. I feel challenged to serve others the way she does. I thought I was going to help others experience freedom, but I was the one who found freedom and purpose in serving these survivors.
