Our weekly South Nashville Outreach is where we mine for “gold, jewels, and precious stones” (1 Corinthians 3:12). Mining is a fitting metaphor to describe this work. Why? Because mining doesn’t feel efficient. You sift through many layers of earth before finding anything of value, and even then, what you find must be refined. The analogy extends to sanctification and discipleship, doesn’t it? The Lord refines all His people and conforms us to the image of His Son. Praise Christ for such grace!
Most Thursday evenings, we serve and pray for many of the same people. The Lord was patient with us, wasn’t He? How long did He wait for us? How long did He serve us without seeing any immediate result? At R1G, we seek to reflect that same divine, patient love we have experienced as we faithfully serve, watch, and pray for our friends on the streets of South Nashville.
Toward the end of our Outreach last week (Feb 26, 2025), two of our female volunteers noticed a woman at the rear of the building who was barely conscious. After a moment, they realized she had overdosed. An R1G staff member immediately took action and administered Narcan to revive her. Narcan counteracts the effects of an opioid overdose. While Team 1 administered the Narcan, Team 2 prayed for Nelly—that is her name. Praise the Lord! He spared her life. However, after regaining consciousness, she broke away from Fire & Rescue and disappeared into the night.
Please join us in prayer at R1G this week as we lift up Nelly—praying for her salvation, her safety, and her deliverance from addiction. Also, consider becoming a monthly partner with R1G. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37). With each monthly commitment, we move closer to our goal of putting more ministers on the streets to meet needs, share the Gospel, build relationships, change lives, and prevent the scourge of human trafficking. As the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
At Rescue 1 Global, every act of service is an opportunity to bring hope and transformation to those in need. Would you consider partnering with us? Even a small gift of $15 can help us order essential outreach gear, ensuring we are equipped to serve our friends on the streets with love, care, and the Gospel. Your financial gifts also support Grace Oasis, our secure facility for rescue victims, along with its programs and our other rescue efforts in the U.S., Thailand, and the Philippines.
Together, we can make a difference—one life at a time. Give today and be a part of the rescue.
