Rescue 1 Global is launching a new program in aimed at preventing Human Trafficking called Mentor 1.
Mentor 1 will target vulnerable elementary aged children in the 2nd – 6th grade. We will provide a Spiritual Mentor, a Tutor, and a Garden Buddy for each child in the Mentor 1 program. Wait.. Garden Buddy? Yes, Rescue 1 Global, in partnership with The Branch of Nashville, has launched the Sprouts Urban Farm. All the produce grown will go to the guests of The Branch Food Pantry.

The Pilot Program will launch in March 2017 and end in May 2017 with the school year. The full program will launch in August 2017 and run thru May 2018.
Mentor 1 Training @ The Branch of Nashville

Saturday March 4th Orientation Day for Mentor 1 Program Participants and their guardians, as well as Spiritual Mentors, Garden Buddies, and Tutors. Below is a brief description of what the program will look like. On the first and third Saturdays of each month the Mentor 1 Program Participant, their Garden Buddy, and Rescue 1 Global staff will work @ The Sprouts Urban Farm together located at The Branch of Nashville from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. We will use an outdoor class room to teach a little science of gardening. Then we will work on whatever project needs to be accomplished that day. Finally we will gather around for a brief Gospel Devotion using mainly the garden imagery of the Bible. At noon, we’ll head inside to “The Upper Room” @ The Branch of Nashville to go grab a nutritious lunch where the Program Participants, “Spiritual Mentor”, will join us. The Garden Buddy is free to go, but if they can stay and eat lunch, they are welcome. After lunch there will be a game or craft for the Program Participant and the Spiritual Mentor to play or work on together, followed by a one on one time with just the Spiritual Mentor and the Program Participant together. Rescue 1 Global staff will provide the material and help guide discussions by doing a brief “Topic Introduction Talk” to help the Spiritual Mentor and the Program Participant get their bearings on the topic of discussion for the day. All mentoring materials will be provided by Rescue 1 Global. The Mentor 1 Program Participant and their Tutor will meet once per week, likely on Tuesday evening @ 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm @ The Branch of Nashville The Garden Buddy will pick the Program Participant up from their home on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays. The Spiritual Mentor will take the Program Participant back to their home after the program is done for the day on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.
We have recently completed the second half of The Sprouts Urban Farm market garden. It is now twice as big as last year. We hope to produce organic vegetables for at least 3 seasons in 2017 – 2018. We are also adding drip irrigation very soon, and an outdoor class room with a small fire pit soon. Stay tuned for some volunteer work days coming in the future.
